What is the I/DD Waiver

The Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Waiver (IDDW) program is designed for individuals of all ages with intellectual or developmental disabilities. It offers various services aimed at educating, training, supporting, and guiding members to achieve the maximum level of independence in their daily lives.


American Family Matters offers services to families who qualify for I/DD Waiver benefits to provide life altering support.

How to know if someone qualifies for the I/DD Waiver Services?

  1. To be able to receive PCS Family, Home Based PCS, and/or Respite Services an individual:
    1. Must have an I/DD Waiver slot
    2. Must reside in the home of their Parent and/or Guardian
  2. To be eligible to receive ISS and/or Group Home Residential Services, an individual:
    1. Must have an I/DD Waiver slot
    2. Must be 18 years of age or older
    3. Must respect the rights of chosen house mates, both physically and verbally
    4. Must not be a threat to self or others
    5. Must agree to abide by all relevant Policy and Procedures of Agency providing service
  3. To be eligible to receive Day Habilitation Services, an individual:
    1. Must have an I/DD Waiver slot
    2. Must be 18 years of age or older and no longer enrolled in the public school system
    3. Must agree to abide by all relevant Policy and Procedures of Agency providing service
  4. To be eligible to receive Professional Services, an individual:
    1. Must have an I/DD Waiver slot
    2. Must agree to abide by all relevant Policy and Procedures of Agency providing service

How to tell if someone qualifies for the WV Family and Community Support program

  1. The individual must be a resident of the state of West Virginia. 
  2.  The individual must have a medically confirmed diagnosis of intellectual and/or developmental disability. 
  3. The individual must reside in a natural or adoptive home setting. 
  4. The individual’s representative team verifies the request cannot be accommodated through any other resources.
